This book studies wholesale and sector-wise electricity demand in South Korea. Electricity demand analysis provides useful insights for market performance evaluation, load prediction, market restructuring, tariff schedule design, etc. In recent years, there has been a heated debate in Korea on how to restructure the electricity market, since low reserve margins that have been in operation (6.7% on average in 2010 for instance) have been threatening the stability and integrity of the electricity system. This book thus attempts to address three important questions about Korean electricity demand-side market restructuring: (1) What are the estimates of the price elasticity of electricity demand in the wholesale and retail markets, including the residential, industrial, and commercial sectors? (2) How do inter-temporal price changes affect electricity consumption, and what are the estimates of the inter-temporal electricity cross-price elasticities in the wholesale market? (3) Except for the electricity price, what other factors affect electricity consumption in the wholesale and retail markets, including the residential, industrial, and commercial sectors?
In Dhaka city, there are huge retail fish markets and some super shops where shrimps are sold. The present study was attempted to isolate, enumerate and identify the indicator bacteria (E.coli and klebsiella spp.) and pathogenic bacteria (salmonella spp., Vibrio spp. and Staphylococcus spp.) present in the shrimp samples available in local market. Two samples were collected from local retail fish markets, one sample was collected from super shop. The highest bacterial load 2.1X107 (cfu/ ml) was found from sample collected from Malibag bazer and the lowest load 1X107 (cfu/ml) was found which was collected from Agora departmental shop. Antibiotic susceptibility test was done by Kirby-Bauer method. Most of isolates the isolates were sensitive to Chloramphenicol and were resistant against tetracycline. Over all study concludes that the shrimp from super shop have better quality then retail markets in terms of microbiological food safety.

With the development of the Internet from a research network to a commercial and integrated network which must satisfy heterogeneous user demand, prices for Internet usage play an important role. This study analyzes the pricing of Internet transport services and interconnection. It explains why appropriate pricing requires popular flat rates to be abandoned. They should be replaced by usage-based prices which are load-sensitive and take different service qualities into consideration. The aim of this work is to give an overview of Internet pricing proposals, to classify, investigate, and evaluate these pricing schemes as well as to elaborate on relations between them. Evaluations are based on normative criteria for Internet pricing from the point of view of social welfare and the perspectives of both Internet service providers and users. Moreover, this book shows what efficient settlement rules look like at the interconnection level. Since these interconnection pricing agreements are closely related to retail pricing models the compatibility between them is also analyzed.
The master thesis of Kevin Berk develops a stochastic model for the electricity demand of small and medium-sized companies that is flexible enough so that it can be used for various business sectors. The model incorporates the grid load as an exogenous factor and seasonalities on a daily, weekly and yearly basis. It is demonstrated how the model can be used e.g. for estimating the risk of retail contracts. The uncertainty of electricity demand is an important risk factor for customers as well as for utilities and retailers. As a consequence, forecasting electricity load and its risk is now an integral component of the risk management for all market participants.

Consumers generally preferred fresh meat without refrigeration. In addition, considering the prevailing conditions at the retail outlets, contamination of the meat with microbes appears unavoidable. Hence, high bacterial load is expected in the meat sold at the retail outlets mainly due to lack of awareness towards hygienic conditions and poor infrastructure in the retail outlets. Hence, practices such as incorporation of antibiotics, chemical preservatives, antimicrobial compounds have been tried. Increasing incidences of some pathogens connected to food borne illness acquiring antibiotic resistance has been a worry. This perspective has put pressure on the food industry for progressive removal of chemical preservatives and adoption of natural alternatives to achieve the goal concerning microbial food safety. Herbal spices have been added to foods since ancient times, not only as flavouring agents, but also as folk medicine and food preservatives . Scarce information is available regarding their use as antimicrobial in meat industry. Hence, this study has been designed to high light the efficacy of some of the spices as antimicrobial in chicken meat system.
